Cranbury, NJ, April 29, 2010 – Iris ID Systems Inc. formerly a division of LG Electronics known as LG IRIS announced today that its integration partner Unisys Mexico has been awarded a contract by the Secretaria de Gobernación/Registro Nacional de Población (Mexican Ministry of Internal Affairs/National Citizen Registry) to provide citizen identification using iris biometric technology. The project would create a database with iris, fingerprint and facial biometric data on up to 110 million Mexican citizens that would be utilized as part of the Mexican government’s national ID card project.
Unisys solution will be based on the proven Unisys LEIDA identity solutions framework and Doan Biometric Engine, which creates building blocks for identity and credentialing solutions to accelerate development and reduce implementation time.

Iris ID technology will enable Unisys to integrate ICAO compliant iris images into the application. Once a person’s irises are enrolled they will be cross referenced to authenticate the identity of the individual with the IrisAccelerator® System.
