Previous handheld iris recognition systems required significant cooperation and for a subject to remain completely motionless in order to capture high quality iris images. Iris ID has developed a series of algorithms which provide the capability to capture iris images in any environment.
High Speed – Dual Iris Capture
The iCAM T20 performs high-speed dual iris capture and outputs high quality ISO standards compliant images. Both eyes can be simultaneously imaged utilizing the USB 2.0 or higher interface. The T20 provides an unparalleled intuitive user interface, which makes the process easier for the subject and operator. The T20 is also equipped with an orientation sensor and left and right iris capture management controls which can be selected prior to or during the process.
IP54 Reliability and Certifications
The iCAM T20 conforms to IP54 standards for water, humidity, and dust resistance. The elastomeric material and design of the T20 further enhances its durability allowing for easy cleaning. This meets or exceeds CE, FCC, and Eye Safety industry certification standards.

Detachable Sun Visor
The iCAM T20 is designed with a detachable visor and main unit. This allows for easy internal cleaning, even during storage or when exposed to external contamination.
IP54 Compliant
It is designed to be dust and moisture-proof (IP54) to ensure reliable use even in harsh environments.
Orientation Sensor
To ensure proper use, a built-in orientation sensor is included. If the T20 is turned upside down, the device will repeatedly beep until the correct orientation is restored.
Intuitive User Interface
Products with short recognition distances can experience gazing when captured using conventional methods. To eliminate this phenomenon, the iCAM T20 features a simple and intuitive UI that automatically captures images simply by looking into the mirror with only the left eye.
Furthermore, a separate indication LED is installed on the right side to facilitate ease of use for those with left-eye impairments or visual impairments.
How to Operate
Fully automatic dual iris image capture and quality analysis routines are available as a part of the Iris ID SDK API set for the field application of the iCAM T20. An illustration of the iris capture process is shown below.
