Job Description and Opportunity:
The Staff/Junior Accountant is a key member of the Finance & Accounting team, responsible for supporting core accounting functions, ensuring accurate data entry, and assisting with the timely completion of the financial close. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work collaboratively to maintain clean, supportable accounting records in a global hardware and software environment. Success in this role requires discipline, strong follow-through, and a desire to learn and grow within the accounting field. This position is based on-site in Cranbury, NJ.
- Perform daily bank checks for cash deposits and accurately apply payments to customer accounts.
- Process vendor invoices and maintain an organized, up-to-date payable history.
General Ledger Support
- Assist with month-end close activities by preparing designated journal entries.
- Perform basic account reconciliations and gather supporting documentation for balance sheet accounts.
- Help investigate discrepancies and document findings for review by senior staff.
- Support P&L and balance sheet analysis by identifying and flagging unusual trends.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP.
- Maintain organized files to ensure accounting treatment is well-documented.
- Provide data as needed to support federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Audit & Tax Support
- Organize and pull requested schedules and documents for audit inquiries.
- Support internal stakeholders in gathering data for tax filings and compliance activities.
Process & Systems
- Utilize ERP systems to perform daily tasks and improve reporting efficiency.
- Adhere to established internal controls and suggest minor process improvements to increase accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 0–3 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge: Foundational understanding of US GAAP.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus).
- Industry: Experience in distribution, E-Commerce, or hardware/software environments is desired but not required.
- Location: Must be able to work on-site in Cranbury, NJ.
